3. Greg Roman now knows what he’s working with:

Greg Roman was there in 2018, but not as the offensive coordinator. When Marty Mornhinweg got fired, Roman took over the offensive coordinator position. Roman implemented a new offense with a young quarterback and a lot of young players. The fact that the season went so well doesn’t change the fact that the 2019 season was a bit of an experiment. It wasn’t just Jackson’s first full season as a starter, it was Roman’s first year calling the shots with for the Ravens’ offense.

One thing that Roman has done so well is implementing wrinkles in the offense. The Ravens showed a lot of different things this season and were easily the most creative team from a play-calling standpoint. Roman has now built some chemistry as a play-caller with his quarterback. He knows what he has on offense and that should help him keep coming up with new elements for his attack. The Ravens now know what they need to be about on the offensive side of things. The 2020 season doesn’t have to be an experiment. That’s huge.

The NFL also knows that the Lamar Jackson experience is nothing to take lightly. The Ravens were a hard team for most teams to prepare for this past season because Jackson could get the job done with his arm and his legs. That’s an advantage that the Ravens still have. It’s important to remember that while the Titans prepared masterfully for the divisional playoff game, the Ravens beat themselves. We still haven’t seen a team stop the Ravens when they stick to their game and they don’t beat themselves.
