1. Patrick Onwuasor:

This is the biggest name on this list, and probably the most expensive free agent the Ravens have outside of the players they have to try keeping. Onwuasor has been a fairly productive linebacker in an assortment of responsibilities over the course of his career. When he had to fill in for C.J. Mosley, moving over one spot in the defensive lineup didn’t prove to be easy for him. Onwuasor is limited in pass coverage. While he didn’t play poorly in 2019, he didn’t take a step up. He’s a fairly solid Will linebacker. He’s a good blitzing linebacker and he was their second leading tackler.

Spotrac.com has his market value estimated at a four year deal worth about 19 million dollars. That’s really not an outrageous price. With that in mind, we saw the inside linebacker position get inflated deals last offseason. Free agents get overpaid each year. The Ravens probably wouldn’t mind bringing Onwuasor back, a player they picked up in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. If the Ravens are looking to find an upgrade at linebacker they could bring back Bynes at a bargain and say goodbye to Onwuasor. It’s hard to think that keeping the same three inside linebackers is the answer.

Next. 4 free agents the Baltimore Ravens should not bring back. dark

If the Ravens bring back Onwuasor it would make sense. They would be rewarding a player who has built his career up from as an undrafted player. Familiarity goes a long way sometimes. The Ravens certainly like Onwuasor. At this point of his career though, he should be bringing a little more to the table. If The Ravens don’t re-sign Onwuasor, that would be justifiable. He may force the Ravens to make their hardest decision of the offseason. What would I do? I’d re-sign Bynes and find a star inside linebacker to complete an improved trio at the position group. It’s important to remember that this one really could go either way.
