Chris Jones:

The Baltimore Ravens have never really relied on a pass rush from their defensive line, instead getting their pressure from their edge rushers. Baltimore has preferred its defensive linemen to be 300+ pounds to eat gaps, plug holes, and make life easier for their linebackers. It used to work, but times are changing and the Ravens need to adjust and get pass-rushing help from their defensive line.

That’s where Chris Jones comes in. Jones has racked up 33.0 sacks since 2016, including 24.5 over the last two seasons. Jones lives in the opponent’s backfield thanks to his ferocity and high-motor off the snap. Jones runs hot and doesn’t take plays off, which just so happens to be what Baltimore needs to add to their defensive line.

In Jones, the Ravens have themselves a difference-maker on every down. Jones remains a solid run defender, so Baltimore can take solace in that. Where he makes a world of difference for the unit is as a pass rusher. The Ravens don’t have anything like Jones on their defensive line and haven’t since the days of Michael McCrary.

Adding Chris Jones would be the best possible move for the team. Michael Pierce is likely to walk in Free Agency and the unit doesn’t have many studs after Brandon Williams. With Jones inserted into this lineup, the Baltimore Ravens would once again have a good pass rush.
