MVP:

The candidates: Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, Matt Judon

The winner: Lamar Jackson

I could’ve named every player in the NFL and Lamar Jackson would still win this award. Naturally, he’s the universal pick from Ravens Flock to win the team MVP.

We already discussed how good Jackson’s season was previously, but here we’re going to emphasize just how important he was to the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and even moving forward.

Without Lamar Jackson in 2019, these Baltimore Ravens are no better than a nine or ten win team. The defense was above average and the run game was solid to go along with some talented pass catchers. Adding Jackson to the mix took a good team over the top. With Jackson, anything and everything seemed possible. Baltimore had no problem blowing out teams and going stride-for-stride with the best of the best offenses. There was no part of the field where the Ravens couldn’t score because of Jackson’s abilities.

The Baltimore Ravens were historic in 2019 and it is almost entirely because of Jackson. Everybody’s playing level increased because of him. Good quarterbacks can get the most out of guys, but great quarterbacks make everyone around them better. It’s no coincidence that multiple players had career-years this year with how Jackson played. It’s even less of a coincidence that this was perhaps the franchise’s best regular-season ever.

And it’s all thanks to Lamar Jackson.

Come time for the 2019 NFL Honors, don’t be surprised to see the Baltimore Ravens have a lot of their players win some of the league’s most prestigious awards. These votes may just be for the team itself, but our guys could still win some league respect.
