3. Marshal Yanda’s amazing career:

The career of Marshal Yanda has been absolutely amazing. He’s a player who has to be in the Ravens Ring of Honor at M&T Bank Stadium. He’s the second best offensive lineman in team history. Yanda will most likely follow Jonathan Ogden into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Yanda was the most consistent interior offensive lineman that I have ever seen. Yanda started his career with the Ravens at the tail end of the Brian Billick era. Yanda has seen a lot of ups and downs with the Ravens, the team he spent his entire career with.

That’s the best part of this retirement, Yanda is a Raven for life. Many of the Ravens best players didn’t end their careers in Baltimore. Ed Reed signed with the Houston Texans in the last year of his career. Todd Heap finished his career with the Arizona Cardinals. Terrell Suggs played for the Cardinals before become a Super Bowl champion again, this time with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jarret Johnson signed with the Chargers after the 2011 season. The Ravens won the Super Bowl the next season. Yanda may not have walked out into the sunset the way that Ray Lewis did after a championship, yet Yanda had the great fortune to spend an entire career in Baltimore. That’s special in this era of the NFL.

Yanda started 166 out of 208 games in his 13 regular seasons with the Ravens. He always played at a high level and was consistently one of the best and toughest players at his position. Yanda was a leader for a long time in Baltimore. You can make the argument that he was the greatest right guard of all time. Ravens fans will always miss having number 73 on the field.
