Marshal Yanda:

Potential replacements:

Replacing Marshal Yanda is impossible. With that being said, the Baltimore Ravens may have a successor in place with Ben Powers. Powers essentially red-shirted as a rookie for Baltimore, but the team used a fourth-round pick on him and likely believed he’d become Yanda’s eventual replacement when he hung up the cleats. Well, that came sooner than we hoped and now we are wondering if the Ravens trust Powers to take over at right guard.

There are a few options on the 2020 NFL Free Agency market that could entice Baltimore in guys like Joe Thuney and Ronald Leary, but none more so than Brandon Scherff. Scherff is a high-profile player that will command a pretty penny from whoever ends up paying him, but he’s well worth it. With how much the Ravens like to run the football, it would be a smart investment to bring in Scherff.

The 2020 NFL Draft doesn’t have any guards that’ll blow you away, but there are some guys in the middle rounds that are worth taking a flier on. LSU’s Damien Lewis intrigues me the most, but I’d bet on Ben Bredeson to be Baltimore’s top target. Bredeson is a seasoned player with some nastiness that the Ravens love in their guards. Bredeson could be a day two pick for the team.

Short of going all out for Scherff in Free Agency, it’s safe to assume that Baltimore will stay in house to replace Yanda with Powers being the favorite. Don’t be surprised if they add a guy or two through the draft, however.
