Matt Judon:

Potential replacements:

There’s plenty of reason to think that Matt Judon will return to Baltimore for the 2020 season, as we are expecting the franchise tag to be placed on him sooner rather than later. Even if Judon returns the Ravens still need to add to their pass rush if they want to be contenders this year.

Right now, Baltimore has Tyus Bowser and Jaylon Ferguson as the only true edge rushers on this roster. Bowser found some success in his third season with a career-high five sacks. Ferguson, on the other hand, struggled to see the field and produce when he was out there. Nonetheless, Ferguson’s ceiling is higher than Bowser’s and I suspect that he could be in for a breakout second year.

The 2020 NFL Free Agency market has some very intriguing edge-rushing prospects like Shaquil Barrett and Jadeveon Clowney, but I’d be shocked if Baltimore broke the bank for anyone; especially if they tag Judon. Instead, look for the Ravens to go bargain shopping and get a guy like Vic Beasley, who has been productive despite his average play.

The 2020 NFL Draft is where I expect Baltimore to do most of their improving at pass rusher and no one fits the team better than Terrell Lewis. First of all, Lewis’s name is perfect for the Baltimore Ravens. Even beyond the coincidence that is his name, Lewis is a big and long edge defender who can pressure the quarterback at a high-level. So long as he stays healthy, Lewis is a top-end talent that Baltimore should consider at the end of round one.
