2. Eric DeCosta wins again:

The Baltimore Ravens have the best general manager in football. It’s like when a young quarterback is forced to sit behind a legendary player for a while and then develops into one of the best quarterbacks in his own right. DeCosta waited to take the general manager position and now he has become the king of NFL trades. He traded Kaire Vedvick for a fifth round pick. Vedvick ended up being a bad decision for the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings fifth round pick that went to Baltimore has turned into Campbell. Has any general manager made two moves with two different fifth round picks better than this one? DeCosta’s new nickname should be “Mr. 5th round pick.”

The Ravens made a brilliant move. They saw a potential cap casualty that they wanted and they worked out a trade to get him before they had to bid for his services. Ian Rapoport reported that the Ravens are close to finalizing a contract extension with Campbell which makes this move work even better for Baltimore. DeCosta had this all figured out before he puled it off. It is a brilliant move that is on brand with everything we have come to know about DeCosta. It was proactive. The numbers make sense. He got what he wanted at the price that he wanted. That’s why he is already the best in the business.

The Ravens are working the trade market perfectly. The Jaguars may be able to say they got something instead of just making a cap cut yet they didn’t get fair compensation. Campbell is a big impact player who just went for a fifth round pick. You can’t beat that. DeCosta needs a standing ovation. If you’re reading this on your phone, put it down for a second and give him a round of applause. If you’re reading this on a computer it’s standing ovation time. This is absolutely amazing.
