3. The Baltimore Ravens will have the number one defense:

The Ravens will probably have the top defense in the NFL next season. They finished the 2019 season with a highly ranked defense. The 2020 team has upgraded interior pass rush and the same strength in the secondary. The Ravens aren’t even done adding to the team. This is the second wave of NFL free agency and the Ravens have plenty of draft picks ahead. The fact of the matter is that the Ravens have more than enough chances to add what they need to add to the defense.

The signature trait of the 2019 Ravens was winning the time of possession battle. Lamar Jackson and Greg Roman are going to keep that advantage going which reduces the amount of work that the defense has to do. The Ravens are going to force more three and outs than any team in the league. Don Martindale already has a reputation for being stingy with third down conversions. This is is only going to be increased with Baltimore’s additions of Campbell and Williams.

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that the Ravens will be bringing back Jimmy Smith. The secondary continues to be well stocked in Baltimore. Smith is one of the most underrated defensive backs in the game. With Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters and Smith, the Ravens will be able to lock down up to three receivers. Tavon Young has a chance to make a big difference in his return to the defense.

He could become an interception machine because there will be too many dangerous choices for opposing quarterbacks not to see turnovers. The bottom line is that you should expect more sacks, more turnovers and an even better defense in 2020.
