Baltimore Ravens in free agency: 1 big thing for each move
Marshal Yanda retires:
This retirement is probably done at the perfect time for the Ravens. The Ravens have Ben Powers waiting to fight for a starting job and the NFL Draft will most likely give him some competition. It’s never a good time to lose one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL’s history. That being said the Ravens are prepared to fill the void.
Minnesota Vikings sign Michael Pierce
The moves that DeCosta made showed that Pierce wasn’t in the plans of the purple and black at all. Pierce was too much like Brandon Williams and the Ravens had too much of a good thing. The Ravens now have Williams back where he’s a dominant force and have more interior pass rush. Pierce got a decent deal from Minnesota and he is a really strong fit for what they needed. This is a good thing for all parties.
Carolina Panthers sign Seth Roberts
This is something that Baltimore Ravens fans shouldn’t be too worked up about. Roberts had a very forgetful year in Baltimore. Roberts wasn’t going to make a huge impact for this offense. Hopefully Roberts finds a better situation in Carolina and he performs at a higher level than he did with the Ravens.
Cincinnati Bengals sign Josh Bynes
According to reports the Ravens are losing Bynes and it is a little less than ideal. He was a decent player and now he’ll be playing for a division rival. Bynes was a linebacker in his second stint with the Ravens. He was a good fit in Baltimore. This isn’t an offseason deal breaker, yet it’s bigger loss than you probably think it is.
New York Jets sign Patrick Onwuasor
According to reports, the Jets are adding Patrick Onwuasor. The Ravens needed to retool the inside linebacker position one way or another. Now they have to completely reload at the position. L.J. Fort is about all the Ravens have left at inside linebacker. The Ravens are going to take a linebacker in the first two rounds. That almost feels like a fact at this point.
