The Baltimore Ravens shield logo is awesome and underutilized

The Baltimore Ravens best logo is in the middle of the field. The shield logo doesn’t get enough use or respect:

I am well aware there are more important things to think about, but the shield logo of the Ravens is so underused. It’s the logo on the Ravens shoulder pads and in the middle of the field and it really should be the main logo of the franchise. The shield logo is so underused I couldn’t find a good picture of it in our available pictures.

I recently came to a realization. I had a ridiculous number of Ravens hats and most of them had the same logo. There’s nothing wrong with the Ravens head. It looks great on the helmet and it’s probably the most recognizable logo for the Ravens. I just wanted something different. I got a hat with the shield logo and it quickly became my favorite.

One of the great things about the Ravens is that they’re unequivocally Maryland’s team. The Washington Redskins may have some pull, but it’s not a strong one. The two teams in Philadelphia have plenty of fans in Maryland, yet the state is all about the purple and black as a whole.

That’s why using a logo with elements of the Maryland flag is so appealing.

No state loves their flag the way that Maryland does so this is a big selling point for switching the main logo to the shield. Remember also that the Ravens are an organization known for toughness and defense. The shield embodies the Ravens spirit much more than the Ravens head logo does.

The Ravens have started coming out of the tunnel wielding shields. It’s a nice start and a good touch. There is a reason fans demanded that the shield came back to the 50 yard line of M&T Bank Stadium’s field. When the Ravens head was there, it just didn’t feel right.

Again, I understand that this isn’t a pressing issue. The world is in a not so fun state of mind right now. Nothing is going right, there are no sports going on and the NFL Draft is the one thing we have to look forward to.

I get that the logo that the Ravens use as their main image doesn’t rank very high in your things to worry about. It just seems like the Ravens shield is underused and that the shield is the logo that says the most about the soul of the team.
