NFL Draft Report Card: Ravens ace it with Patrick Queen
The Baltimore Ravens selected Patrick Queen with the 28th overall pick. Here is the grade for the pick:
The Baltimore Ravens took Patrick Queen, the super athletic linebacker out of LSU. He was a player that most people believed would be an option for the Ravens. Most mock drafts had the Ravens either taking Queen or Kenneth Murray. Murray went off the board when the Los Angeles Chargers traded up for him.
There were a lot of ways the Ravens could go here. There was a ton of talent at the wide receiver position including Denzel Mims, Michael Pittman Jr. and Tee Higgins. A.J. Epenesa was still there and he was a player who has been mock drafted to the Ravens a good bit.
In the end I believe the Ravens got the best linebacker in this draft not named Isiah Simmons. Let’s get to what you all came here for. Let’s go to the grade book.
A +. Patrick Queen was my 15th best player going into the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. When the Ravens took Queen they got the best player available and they filled a big need. The Ravens just drafted the fastest linebacker they have ever had. They have a player who has the toughness for AFC North football and the athletic ability to be a three down linebacker. This is a player who is going to rack up a high snap count.<p>He’s going to make the Ravens better at every phase of defensive football. He’s going to help against the run. The number one thing that you have to note about Queen is that his athleticism is matched by his instincts. The NFL Draft is off to a great start for the Ravens. This was huge. The Ravens just got a player who will wind up being voted to the Pro Bowl numerous times. He’s a star. This is a home run pick.
