Baltimore Ravens will open up 2020 season vs. Kansas City Chiefs:

If the NFL values ratings, then the defending champs, the Kansas City Chiefs, should take on the Baltimore Ravens to open the 2020 regular season.

While it’s untraditional for the reigning Super Bowl champs to open their season on the road, it isn’t completely unheard of. Ironically enough, the last time this happened was to Baltimore after winning Super Bowl XLVII, when the Ravens had to travel to Denver to face the Broncos; a game that Baltimore ultimately lost.

It makes all the sense in the world to have this game open 2020. For starters, you have arguably the two best teams in football going at it with MVP-winning quarterbacks in Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes. The teams are stacked beyond their quarterbacks, as both can win in offensive shootouts and defensive slugfests. No teams match up better with each other than the Chiefs and the Ravens.

There’s also a bit of a rivalry brewing between these two teams. In the Jackson vs. Mahomes era, KC is 2-0 but both games have been close and fun to watch. Baltimore will be hoping to get the best of Kansas City this year, as this will be their first time hosting in the Jackson vs. Mahomes era. Neither game has been a primetime event, for what it’s worth.

Combine all of this with the fact that we don’t have sports right now thanks to COVID-19 and you have yourself a masterpiece. People who love sports, not just football, will tune in across the world to watch this game. It would be one of the most hyped-up football games ever. You wanna talk about ratings and money? This is the game to give you both. This is like the Super Bowl before the Super Bowl.

It’s not ideal for the Kansas City Chiefs, but this is going to be one of the best matchups of the entire 2020 season. Getting these two teams to go head-to-head on primetime football is bound to happen. If it were up to me, it would be to kick off the regular season. Make it happen, people.
