2. Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters:

The Ravens have the best cornerback duo in the NFL. Marlon Humphrey is a shutdown cornerback who can match up with any receiver. Marcus Peters is one of the best interception artists at the cornerback position. Quarterbacks want to avoid them both and that’s a very hard thing to do. The strength of the defense is the cornerback position. Having two 2019 first team All-Pro players there is a huge advantage. It allows Don Martindale to be true to his aggressive mindset.

Humphrey had 65 tackles two forced fumbles and three interceptions last year. Peters had five interceptions last season, three of which came after he was traded to the Ravens. Peters scored on one pick six for the Los Angeles Rams and two for the Ravens in 2019. While they are both very different players, Humphrey and Peters are both elite. Humphrey’s game is built more in physicality and the plays he doesn’t let happen. Peters game is built on baiting quarterbacks into bad throws and instincts. Both ways work very well. Peters is the perfect player to pair with Humphrey. The quarterback has to throw the ball somewhere meaning more often than not he’s attacking the strength of the defense.

When you consider the Ravens also have Jimmy Smith and Tavon Young at cornerback, it’s almost too good to be true. Much like Jackson and Ingram supply the identity of the offense, Humphrey and Peters do that for the defense. There isn’t a more confident pairing at of defensive backs in football. The Ravens get a lot of their toughness and tenacity from this combination right here.
