@robringer74 asks:

  • Do you think they keep 4 RBs on the active roster besides Ricard?
  • How much of a contribution do you expect to see from newly drafted WRs Duvernay and Proche this season?

Answer: Yes. I think the Ravens will keep all four running backs on the roster this season. While the running back by committee thing isn’t exactly new in the NFL, the Ravens have a chance to reshape how it’s done. The four running backs the Ravens have all offer hard downhill running.

While they vary on their level of ability to catch out of the backfield, all of them fit the same kind of mold. The Ravens will use this to be less predictable than any other offense before the snap. It will also make sure that the offense always has more juice than the opposing defense.

Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards already have a good one-two punch going. It will be interesting to see where J.K. Dobbins lands on the pecking order of the backfield. It seems early to count out Justice Hill, who has looked fairly good when he’s gotten a chance to make a play.

My hot take of the offseason is that Duvernay will be the second most targeted receiver in this offense. Receivers who operate primarily out of the slot have a chance to come in and make the biggest impact as a rookie. If a defense gives Duvernay just a bit of room, he’s going to be a dangerous play-maker. I see him as a 30-40 reception rookie, who will finish just shy of what Marquise Brown produced last year. I think it will be a bigger jump for Proche. I see him making an impact on special teams and showing a flash here or there on offense.
