The Baltimore Ravens had no prominent wide receivers last year. How should they fix that? Trade for the Los Angeles Chargers’ Keenan Allen. Here’s why.

The Ravens wide receivers were lackluster last season. In improve the receiver corps, and consequently the offense, a trade for Keenan Allen makes sense. Here’s why.

Current Ravens Wide Receivers:

Following the draft, these are the Raven’s current wide receivers: Marquise Brown, Miles Boykin, Devin Duvernay, James Proche, Willie Snead, and Chris Moore. Notice a theme here? Besides Marquise Brown, the 2019 first-round pick, who is poised for a breakout year, the Ravens have no prominent wide receivers. No receiver had over 600-yards. Adding Keenan Allen, an established receiver who is coming off back-to-back 1000-yard seasons will make this group a whole lot better.

Marquise Brown’s Expected Breakout Season:

Next season, Marquise Brown, the best Ravens wide receiver last year, is expected to break out after having surgery to remove a screw in his foot, an injury that bothered him all of last year. Trading for Keenan Allen, who would be the undisputed no.1 in the receiver corps, would surely take the pressure off Brown to improve. Furthermore, by putting Brown as the no.2 receiving option, his speed would be a matchup nightmare for opposing cornerbacks.

Keenan Allen and the Chargers:

The Chargers, after moving on from longtime quarterback Phillip Rivers and drafting quarterback Justin Herbert with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, are clearly in rebuilding mode. As they are in rebuild mode, they will not command much value for their wide top receiver, who although carries a high salary cap hit has just recently turned 28 and is in the prime of his career.

Final Thoughts and the Trade:

This trade makes the most sense in the world for the Baltimore Ravens, who already had the best offense in the league last year. Combined with Keenan Allen’s price tag, this trade is a no brainer. The following is the projected trade:
