Second-year man Marquise Brown seems primed for a breakout year for the Baltimore Ravens, but just how big will his 2020 season be?

The 2019 Baltimore Ravens were all about the run game. The team set the single-season record for team rushing yards with a whopping 3,296-yards. Lamar Jackson set the single-season quarterback rushing yards record with 1,206-yards and Jackson teamed up with Mark Ingram to become just the seventh duo to each rush for 1,000-yards (the second ever quarterback/running back duo). Lost in all the rushing yards were solid receiving performances by tight end Mark Andrews and rookie wide receiver Marquise Brown.

The duo combined for 17 of Jackson’s 36 touchdown passes and opened up the passing game to make Baltimore a well-rounded offense. After all, the Ravens did become the first team to average both 200-yards rushing and passing per game and these two were a big reason for that.

Here, we’re going to focus on the latter of the two and why he’s primed for a massive 2020 season.

Despite a modest 584 receiving yards in 14 games, Marquise Brown, better known as “Hollywood”, tied a franchise rookie record with seven touchdown receptions. Brown was spectacular throughout his rookie season if you actually turn on the film and watch the kid play. Even more impressive is that he played the season with screws in his foot following offseason foot surgery.

Those screws have since been removed, and there’s strong reason to believe that nothing will hold him back from greatness now.

To illustrate this point, look at the Ravens lone playoff game vs. the Tennessee Titans back in January. Brown reeled in seven catches for 126-yards, a whopping 18.0 YPR. Brown also made a remarkable one-handed snag during the game in good coverage by the Titans. It was a sign of things to come, as Brown entered that game at nearly 100% health-wise.

As far as 2020 is concerned, Marquise Brown looks ready to breakout. Brown will enter the season fully healthy with the traits that made him the first receiver off the board in the 2019 NFL Draft. Brown is a burner, with serious wheels that will have defensive backs struggling to keep up with him. Brown also has solid hands and showed as a rookie that he knows how to score touchdowns. This bodes well for the 23-year old.

It also helps his case that he and Lamar Jackson have some serious chemistry with one another. The two were in sync all year long, even with limited field time together. Now with another offseason to build on that relationship, there should be little doubt that the fireworks will come aplenty.

All in all, things look to be headed in the right direction for Marquise Brown and the Ravens passing attack.

Marquise Brown is going to explode in 2020. The Baltimore Ravens offense will once again be run-oriented, but this will just mean more opportunities for Brown to see one-on-one matchups and take secondaries deep. The YPR is going to be sky-high and the touchdowns will come. 2020 will be the year “Hollywood” Brown becomes a household name throughout the league.

Marquise Brown 2020 projected stats: 65 receptions, 1,150-yards, eight touchdowns
