After a strong rookie season and then a breakout 2019 season, what does Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews have in store for us in 2020?

The Baltimore Ravens have a rather rich history when it comes to stud tight ends. Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe prolonged his career in Baltimore after a heckuva stretch with the Denver Broncos and won Super Bowl XXXV as the Ravens’ top pass catcher. The Ravens also enjoyed terrific careers from guys like Todd Heap and Dennis Pitta. Now, the franchise has been blessed with Mark Andrews, who looks to be one of the five best tight ends in all of football.

Even better, Andrews might be the best tight end that Baltimore has ever had.

Mark Andrews broke out in a big way last year for the Ravens, setting franchise marks for single-season tight end receiving yards (853-yards) and tight end touchdowns (10). Andrews was Baltimore’s best option in the passing game and established a deadly connection with Lamar Jackson that proved to be fatal to opposing defenses all year long.

Andrews was no slouch as a rookie, either, putting up franchise tight end rookie record in receiving yards (552-yards) and averaging a ridiculous 16.3 YPR. For him to follow up that performance with what he did in 2019 was nothing short of remarkable. From here, all eyes will be on whether or not he sustains that success moving forward.

Now entering his third season, Mark Andrews has already become a huge facet of the Baltimore Ravens offensive gameplan. While Marquise Brown was never quite at 100% in his rookie season and others failed to step up into bigger roles last season, Andrews became the main man for Jackson through the air. Andrews will once again be relied on to be the “safe man” when the play breaks down. It also seems to be a safe bet that he’ll be the first guy Jackson looks to in the end-zone, as well.

With such an important and clearly defined role in this offense, we can safely assume what Andrews will do in 2020. Andrews will put up terrific numbers across the board and perhaps earn his second Pro Bowl nod in three years.

Next. Will the 2020 Baltimore Ravens have the best defense in the NFL?. dark

Of all the predictions I’ve made thus far for the Baltimore Ravens players in 2020, I feel most confident in my projections for Mark Andrews. Andrews has simply proven himself to be a focal point for this offense and a very important piece to the puzzle. Andrews is going to flirt with 1,000 receiving yards this year, even if the Ravens opt to remain a run-heavy offense and/or Andrews has to compete for targets with a now healthy Marquise Brown. Andrews will also come close to double-digit touchdowns once again and is a safe bet to lead the team in receptions.

Mark Andrews 2020 projected stats: 70 receptions, 900 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns
