Ben Bredeson player comp from Ravens (present): Bradley Bozeman

The Ravens are looking for the same kind of things out of their interior offensive linemen. They need to be able to run block and they need to be able to move. They need versatility and length. They had trouble with players like A.Q. Shipley and Gino Gradkowski whose measurables didn’t quite meet what they were looking for. So it’s not surprising that the most comparable player to Bredeson is currently on the Ravens roster. I wrote in a previous post about how the Ravens are forming the offensive line. The point was that the Ravens are finding a balance between size and athleticism.

If you look at Bradley Bozeman and Ben Bredeson side by side, they would have a very similar frame. Bozeman is listed as 6-5 and 311 pounds. Bredeson is listed at 6-5 315 pounds. They both come from blue blood college football programs. Bozeman played center for the Alabama Crimson Tide while Bredeson played for the Michigan Wolverines. Bozeman went from being a center to a starting left guard. Don’t be surprised if Bredeson isn’t married to the left or the right side. He’s a guard, but all the options are on the table for the offensive line.

Neither player would be overly impressive in an NFL combine situation but on the field, they have the traits the Ravens need.  They won’t win a footrace but they move their feet well and they can reach their blocks. They are players built for the most unique offense in the league especially in the run game. Bozeman was a sixth-round pick and Bredeson was a fourth-round pick. Both players are day three guys. Bredeson may not be ready to go right away and that’s okay. Bozeman wasn’t supposed to work out so well, that kind of just happened. There is a lot of young talent on the offensive line and the Ravens surely know what they are looking for in terms of offensive line help.
