Sign a veteran to a cheap deal:

Of all the possible moves the Baltimore Ravens could make before the 2020 season kicks off, it would be the signing of a veteran player to a short-term, veteran minimum deal.

More from Ebony Bird

There’s a slew of solid options for the Ravens to fancy, particularly for upgrading the pass rush. While the unit looks much improved after trading for Calais Campbell and signing Derek Wolfe, along with retaining Matt Judon and Pernell McPhee, adding another veteran could still be in the mix. Adding a player like Everson Griffen or Cameron Wake would be a very Ravens-like move.

The competition at tight end is intriguing for the third spot after the team opted to trade Hayden Hurst this offseason, but the options aren’t exactly flashy. Jacob Breeland seems to be the best possible option, but he’s coming off a knee injury and went undrafted during the 2020 NFL Draft. Perhaps bringing in someone like Ed Dickson could spice things up.

Adding another wide receiver to the mix is also something Baltimore could consider. Perhaps a gadgety type player like Taylor Gabriel or Tavon would make sense. Both would also make for good competition for return duties. Jaron Brown is another option who brings size to the table; something the current depth chart doesn’t have a ton of. Heck, maybe the team flirts with bringing in Josh Gordon?

Right now, the Ravens have plenty of good competition and youth throughout the roster but don’t rule out a low-risk signing of a veteran player.
