No. 3: Ravens Center Patrick Mekari

It’s a bit weird to suggest reserve center Patrick Mekari could be on the roster bubble after doing more than just a fair job backing up the starter, Matt Skura, for five starts last season.

Skura’s health following his 2019 injury is going to be a key storyline to watch, of course, and he’s yet to return to the practice field. With less than a month to go before the start of the regular season, one would guess Mekari would be essentially a lock to hang around on the 53-man roster.

But things get a bit weird when trying to analyze the Ravens’ depth along their line’s interior. The team selected guard Ben Bredeson in Round 4 of this year’s NFL Draft, and both D.J. Fluker and Tyre Phillips could potentially work their way into the reserve role behind Skura if John Harbaugh elects to free up a roster spot.

It would be a tough finish to Mekari’s tenure after joining Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in 2019, then working his way into a featured starting role.

But if the Ravens elect to go with an upgrade, or at least value the roster spot for someone else, the second-year pro could very easily not make the cut.
