3. What will the Ravens offense look like?

The last time we saw the Baltimore Ravens they became a pass happy team in desperation time of a playoff game. The rest of the 2019 season was a showcase of a dominant running game. Will the 2020 Ravens try to get more comfortable passing the ball a little more? Instead of three tight end sets are we likely to see three wide receiver sets? Does Devin Duvernay or James Proche factor into the offense? How will the Ravens manage their backfield with four running backs? These are all valid things to ask going into the regular season. We’re waiting to see the next evolution of the revolution that Greg Roman and Lamar Jackson started last year.

Last year’s season opener was a shocking one. It wasn’t surprising that the Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins. That was meant to happen. That being said, nobody saw five touchdown passes and a perfect passer rating coming out of Lamar Jackson in a 59-10 victory. Jackson has a habit of surprising people with something new. Last offseason his work ethic transformed him into the NFL MVP. Knowing what we know about Jackson, he may have worked even harder this offseason. The season opener is an intimidating time to be the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. We may not know what the battle plans are for this upcoming season, but we are fully aware that Jackson is a special talent ready to put on another season long show. On top of that Roman had a whole offseason to reinvent his brain child offense.

There are a lot of questions facing an offense that was an elite unit last year, and that keeps their offensive coaching staff in tact. They are not worrisome questions though. The Ravens are expecting to have one of the most dynamic squads in the entire NFL. The Ravens don’t have to prove anything in week one. They just need to get a win and pick up where they left off in the 2019 regular season. We kind of have already figured they’re going to be good, now we just need to see the next steps of creativity that come with this offense. This may be the most fun thing to look forward to as we get closer and closer to the season opener.
