The next tier up

12) Ravens at Bengals- Week 17

I fully expect to see Subway Bob in this match up.

The hope here is that there are no surprises for the Ravens such as Cincinnati being good or the Ravens still having a ton to play for in this contest. Maybe they are still battling for seeding in this contest and it becomes at least entertaining.

Last year Lamar Jackson put the entire Bengals team on skates in Cincinnati so there’s that to look forward too as well.

11) Ravens at Texans- Week 2

The Ravens will be looking to get to 2-0 (hopefully) when they head to Houston in Week two. This is a game that could impact potential seeding albeit WAY down the line, but I don’t project the Texans to be among the AFC’s best teams.

This match up really doesn’t possess any major story lines other than the fact that the Ravens beat the snot out of the Texans last season. It will be intriguing to see the new look Texans offense looks with Brandin Cooks and David Johnson in the fold and DeAndre Hopkins out of it.

Deshaun Watson is one of the game’s brightest stars at QB and J.J. Watt is always fun to watch. Overall though, this one doesn’t have the juice to make the top 10.

10) Ravens vs Bengals- Week 5

So this match up ranks higher for me a few reasons. First would be that it comes prior to the Ravens traveling to Philadelphia and hosting Pittsburgh. Again, not saying they are going to lose one or both of those games, but those are two of the Ravens toughest opponents. Winning a game they should win here is important.

Second, I am excited to see Joe Burrow and what is a surprisingly talented skill position group. I am also excited to see the Ravens defensive front manhandle a dismal Bengals offensive line.

Overall though, the Bengals figure to be uninspiring this season, but getting the first glimpse at Burrow elevates this match up for me.

9) Ravens at Browns Week 14

I know the Browns are supposed to be good. But until they play a meaningful game in December, they’re an afterthought for me.

These two teams don’t like each other and the history shows that this game will be closer than most project. That’s even prior to figuring out if the Browns are any good. A lot of the story lines for this match up could be a result of how the first encounter between the two teams shakes out.

Being on Monday Night Football is always exciting as well (unless you’re old and tired like me).
