Week two is in the books, so it’s time to update our power rankings. To the surprise of no one, the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs are on top.

The drum keeps beating for the 2020 NFL season, and teams are starting to make some moves up and down the power rankings. There will be some clarity to the top spot after next week’s games are wrapped up, and teams will keep defining who they are week to week.

Let’s jump into this, starting with the dregs. Last week’s rankings are in parenthesis.

32. New York Jets, 0-2 (32)

More from Ebony Bird

Do you want to know how to secure a 32nd ranking in a 32-team league? Get blown out at home to a San Francisco team that was down to three custodians and a hot-dog vendor on the field after a rash of injuries. The Jets, for now, are the NFL’s doormats. It’s not close.

31. Carolina Panthers, 0-2 (31)

They lost Christian McCaffrey for several weeks and got drilled by Tampa Bay to the tune of a 31-17 loss. Things aren’t great. But, hey, they aren’t the Jets, and that’s something. Admittedly, not a lot. But it is something.

30. Washington Whatchamacallits, 1-1 (29)

Losing to the Cardinals is not the humiliation it once was. Well, more than once, as the Cardinals have a well-documented history of stinking more than not stinking. Being bad is a bad thing, though, and this team is pretty bad.

29. Detroit Lions, 0-2 (26)

They got blown out by Green Bay. It happens. They still have Matt Patricia as their coach, and I’m. It sure that should happen. They have more talent than this, but they just don’t play football well. That’s important for, you know, a football team.
