The Baltimore Ravens are about to take on the Washington Football Team.

I’m sorry but I cannot help but chuckle at reading that back to myself. The Ravens are on their way to Landover, MD looking to push their record to 3-1 this Sunday as they take on the Washington Football Team at 1:00pm at FedEx Field.

They will be looking to bounce back after a humiliating 34-20 loss to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in front of the world’s eyes on Monday Night Football. Nothing went right from the coaching staff, to the offense, to the defense. The only unit that had a productive night was the special teams unit led by Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, and Devin Duvernay who returned a kickoff 93 yards to the house.

It was a frustrating day for Lamar Jackson who was unable to overcome poor play calling, drops by his pass catchers, his own poor play, and a suspect tripping penalty early in the contest. He went 15-28 for 97 yards and a touchdown pass to Nick Boyle which somehow cut the lead to 27-20 with 14:55 to go in the fourth. He pitched in 83 yards on nine carries on the ground as well. For lack of better wording, he wasn’t very good Monday night but he certainly wasn’t alone (more on that later.)

Defensively Don “Wink” Martindale was over-matched throughout the contest struggling to match wits with future HOF’er Andy Reid and offensive coordinator, Eric Bienemy, who has to be gaining steam for a head coaching gig soon. From blitzing too much, to blitzing the wrong players (hello new bag recipient Marlon Humphrey), the Ravens defense was unable to contain the Chiefs high-flying attack.

But it is on to the Football Team who sit at 1-2 after Dwayne Haskins most disastrous start to date. Four key turnovers littered his day as the Football Team fell 34-20 to the Cleveland Browns. This game represents a big bounce back opportunity for the Ravens and here are three things to watch for before the “Battle of the Beltways.”
