Wide Receivers:

The Bengals receiving corps has long been talented but often was banged up. This year their top three receivers are all healthy and that could mean bad news for the Ravens. Between A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, and rookie Tee Higgins, the Bengals have size, speed, and a lot of talent. Each of these three has developed a solid rapport with Burrow commanding over 20 targets each. For these guys to be successful they will need to do it against the best cornerback duo in the league in Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters.

With three great receivers and two great corners, Burrow will probably find Higgins matched up with either Jimmy Smith or Anthony Averett. If Burrow can take advantage of this matchup then they will be able to find success and maybe sustain some drives. These receivers have yet to put up great touchdown numbers and have yet to generate big plays so look for the Ravens to try and keep everything in front of them.

For the Ravens, their receivers must step up. Miles Boykin and Hollywood Brown both have big-play capabilities and need to step up in this game. The other player who should see success in this game is Willie Snead. Snead works the middle of the field and that is where I expect the Ravens to be living during this game. For the Ravens with Lamar missing practice this week it will be interesting to see how the timing will be between Jackson and his targets.

The determining factor in this game could very easily be in the passing game. The Ravens need to find a way to connect with their receivers, but they have been slowly improving. This game will be a good test for both the Ravens receivers and secondary. If they can slow down the Bengals receivers it will make Burrow and the Bengals day very long.

Prediction:

  • Hollywood Brown- Six receptions, 90 receiving yards, one touchdown
  • Miles Boykin– Four receptions, 45 receiving yards
  • Willie Snead– Three receptions, 30 receiving yards, one touchdown
  • Tyler Boyd– Seven receptions, 60 receiving yards, one touchdown
  • A.J. Green- Two receptions, 12 receiving yards
  • Tee Higgins
