The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles this week. It’s time once again to preview the game and give our predictions.

Richard Bradshaw:

Before the season started, this game was thought to be one of the better matchups on the 2020 schedule. Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens were division champions from 2019 and have won a Super Bowl in the last ten season. Both teams are also loaded with talent and star-power throughout their respective rosters. It was destined to be a great game.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for one of these teams.

The 1-3-1 Eagles will host the 4-1 Ravens and the difference in play has been astronomical even without taking records into account. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have rolled just about every team they’ve played this year while Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles have struggled to even be competitive. In a head-to-head matchup, this doesn’t look to be pretty.

Baltimore is getting it done offensively and defensively, but the defense over the last couple of weeks has looked outstanding. It starts with the cornerback tandem of Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters clamping down on opposing receivers and allowing front-seven players like Patrick Queen flourish. Queen, in particular, has been balling out and is a front-runner for the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Humphrey himself is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, as well. This defense has to be licking its chops at a beat-up and all-around lousy offense.

I suspect the Ravens offense should roll through this game on cruise control thanks to a dominant defensive effort. All Baltimore needs to do is run the ball and chew up the clock, something they’ll be able to do against the league’s 17th ranked run defense in terms of YPG.

I don’t expect this game to be relatively close. The Philadelphia Eagles are simply one of the worst teams in football this year while the Baltimore Ravens are one of the best. This will get out of hand early.

Bold predictions: Carson Wentz throws two interceptions to Marcus Peters, who returns one for a touchdown; Baltimore records five sacks
