Baltimore Ravens climb back up in latest power rankings
By Darin McCann
Our latest power rankings are in and the Baltimore Ravens are right at the top once again after a big win vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
If there’s one thing we know for certain after nine weeks of the 2020 NFL season, it’s that we know very little for certain after nine weeks of the 2020 NFL season. Just when we think we have a team pegged for greatness (Tampa Bay), they drop a bomb. When we think a team stinks on ice (Giants), well, they get a win, but still kind of stink on ice.
Between COVID lists, young quarterbacks, and injuries, the 2020 season is one for the books. We just don’t know yet what kind of book it will turn out to be in the end. As for now, we have some rankings. Let’s get to it. Last week’s rankings are in parenthesis.
32. New York Jets, 0-9 (32)
This team is so staggeringly bad that a win will not move the needle for them from this spot. It would automatically register as a mere blip on the radar of a team that has taken rotten to a whole new level. There needs to be changes this offseason. Big, real, massive changes.
31. Jacksonville Jaguars, 1-7 (30)
They are probably more competitive than many of us anticipated, which says a lot about a 1-7 team, right? It says they are devoid of talent, and there is a lack of confidence in the coaching staff to run things around. Again, this is a franchise in need of significant change.
30. Washington Whatchamacallits, 2-6 (28)
They lost to the Giants. FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS SEASON. They seem to show real promise, particularly on defense, but then, well, THEY LOST TO THE GIANTS FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS SEASON. That’s not good. That’s not good even a little bit. They don’t deserve a team name.
29. Dallas Cowboys, 2-7 (29)
How does a bad team lose and not drop in the standings? By not losing to the Giants for the second time this season, and giving the Steelers everything they could handle with a fourth-string quarterback. They can be back to relevance next year with a healthy quarterback and high pick.
