20. San Francisco 49ers, 4-6 (18)

This is one of those seasons that the Injury Gods claimed as its own. Well-coached enough to steal a couple of games, but not quite good enough with their current roster to do much against the good teams, as we just saw against the Saints. They’ll be back. Probably. Right?

19. Detroit Lions, 4-5 (21)

They managed to steal a game they should have won an hour earlier, which is just about the most Detroit Lions way to win a football game there is. They are competitive because of some talented players who can shine from time to time. I think there will be changes in 2021.

18. Chicago Bears, 5-5 (16)

Losing to the Vikings isn’t the end of the world, as that team has picked up a little momentum recently. However, let’s look at their offense for a second from that game. Cordarrelle Patterson led the team in rushing with 30 yards on 12 carries, and Nick Foles threw for 106 yards on 26 attempts. Where do wins come from with that output?

17. Minnesota Vikings, 4-5 (17)

They beat a lousy Bears team on Monday night, and rookie receiver Justin Jefferson certainly looks the part of a future star. Dalvin Cook already is one, and he showed grit and determination against a tough Bears defense. It was a win, but… meh.
