Okay, so we’re dreading this game. Here are three potential positives for the Baltimore Ravens against the Steelers:

1. The Baltimore Ravens defense makes it ugly:

The last time I checked, the Baltimore Ravens have not lost yet. Am I predicting them to win? No. It doesn’t look great at the moment. Could the purple and black pull it out? Absolutely. With that in mind, let’s look at the three things that could go right in this game. This obviously starts with the defense. If the Ravens are going to win this game, they need the defense to reclaim its prowess.

The one thing that the Ravens usually get from their defense is turnovers. Turnovers can change a game; for Ravens vs. Steelers, they almost always are the turning point. Say the defense forces two or three takeaways; does it give the Ravens a win? It very well might. The Steelers are undefeated despite having some close calls. Some of these close calls came against bad teams.

The Ravens don’t need to be perfect to win this game. They almost beat the Steelers earlier this season. It would have been an ugly win. The Ravens don’t need to be perfect. They simply need to force Pittsburgh into the kinds of mistakes that can get them their first loss. Baltimore has 15 takeaways and an NFL leading 10 turnovers by a fumble. If the defense can get multiple turnovers the Ravens can win this game.

The last time these teams played the Ravens lost the turnover battle. The Ravens outgained the Steelers in that game. They dominated a lot of aspects of that 60-minute battle. The defense needs to repeat that type of performance against the Steelers, but they need to add some turnovers to the equation.

Turnovers were the difference last time, they could be the difference this time. Lamar Jackson needs to do a much better job caring for the Ravens’ possession. That’s not in the defensive unit’s control. They can play their part though, and if they do they can turn the table.
