Baltimore Ravens run game…Have yourself a day:

The NFL record for rushing yards in a game was set in 1950. According to a quick Google search, the New York Giants had 423 yards on the ground against the Baltimore Colts. The Baltimore Ravens came awfully close to breaking that record against the Bengals.

The Ravens rushed for over 400 yards in a game they had to win to earn a playoff spot. The Ravens won 38-3 and their run game was front and center in the victory. Lamar Jackson had 97 running yards and became the only quarterback in NFL history to have two 1,000 yard rushing seasons.

He just happened to do it in back to back seasons and his first two seasons as the established franchise quarterback.

J.K. Dobbins only got 13 rushing attempts and picked up 160 yards and two touchdowns. Dobbins had a 72-yard touchdown run that was absolutely incredible. Dobbins is going to be an amazing player for a long time, that looks like a certainty.

The Ravens had seven players run the rock for them in this game. Everyone except for Tyler Huntley averaged at least five yards per rushing attempt. That’s insane. Devin Duvenray picked up a first down with a 22-yard jet sweep. Justice Hill even got involved getting 21 yards on two attempts.

Gus Edwards had 60 yards on 12 carries. Mark Ingram picked up 39 yards. It was a total team effort but the production by Dobbins and Jackson is what made this remarkable output possible.

The bottom line:

The Ravens rushed for the most yards in NFL history as a team last season. This year it’s still impressive, but it wasn’t as smooth for much of the year. Now that the playoffs are officially on the way, the run game is back to 2019 levels of operations.

The Ravens had the fourth-most rushing yards in an NFL game. They finished the game 20 yards away from the record. That’s an impressive way for the offense to finish the regular season. For the second year in a row, the Ravens are going into the postseason with one of the most efficient run games in NFL history.
