How did Lamar Jackson do in the regular season:

One thing we learned about Lamar Jackson is when he is allowed to be himself, good things happen. Jackson is who he is and that was the great lesson of the season. He’s a combination of arm talent and ridiculous athleticism. After his second full season as a starter, there is a lot to say.

Here are the highlights of the 2020 season for the reigning MVP of the NFL. Jackson added another 26 touchdown passes and had a passer rating just under 100. Jackson became the first quarterback in NFL history to have two 1,000 yard rushing seasons. There were some very good times to be an Action Jackson fan.

While his performance was a bit uneven sometimes, he’s been the best thing going for the Ravens. When Jackson missed the second game against the Pittsburgh Steelers it became painfully obvious how much of a difference-maker the former Heisman winner is. Let’s get to the report card for the 2020 regular season for number eight:

B. You can’t gloss over the fact that Jackson had some very frustrating games. Jackson basically gift-wrapped a game for the Pittsburgh Steelers with turnovers. Monday Night Football against the Chiefs was a brutal night for Jackson. So while I’m about to heap some praise on Jackson, note that I’m not blind to how it wasn’t perfect.
The Good:

Jackson heated up in the second half of the season. That’s definitely when Jackson began to feel more comfortable, he stopped pressing as a passer and leaned into his game. Jackson had to deal with the offensive line having an up and down year and his elusiveness was next-level great. Jackson completed 64 percent of his passes and while his passing yards are under 3,000 yards when you look at total yards it’s 3,762 yards he produced. 33 total touchdowns is a nice touch too.

Jackson is exactly what the Ravens need him to be. A dynamic and exciting play-maker. The Ravens won 11 games and he was the biggest reason for all of their wins. Jackson was a tremendous leader this season. He saved the day against Cleveland and went on to continue his excellence in the two-minute drill. Jackson grew a lot this season. Teams were more ready for him this year. The way he picked up yards on the ground had to be updated a bit, but he willed his way to production.

What he needs to work on:

Jackson was pressing as a passer earlier in the season. He turned down chances to run with the ball because he wanted to prove what he could do in the air. It certainly felt like that in the first half of the season, anyway. Jackson had a career-high nine interceptions. That’s not a bad high mark for interceptions, yet a few of those picks changed the season.

A better game against the Steelers and not throwing that pick against the Tennessee Titans, and the Ravens could be looking at a division title instead of the fifth seed. Jackson’s footwork is problematic and it leads to inaccuracy. Mechanically, Jackson took a step backward this season.
. QB. Baltimore Ravens. LAMAR JACKSON

The Bottom Line:

When we look back at Jackson’s career this probably won’t be looked at as his top season. That’s fine. Jackson had to follow up the most entertaining season I have ever seen a quarterback produce. Jackson had a ton of A + performances in this game. He showed that the Ravens will always be a winner with him under center. Overall it was good. Greg Roman and Jackson figured out much of what was going wrong earlier in the year.

Next. Regular season concluding 2021 NFL Mock Draft for Ravens. dark

Ultimately this season will be remembered for what the Ravens do in the postseason. If Jackson gets his first playoff win against the Tennessee Titans, it will be the progress this franchise is looking for. Jackson is fun to watch, he’s a great leader and, he’s the most important player for the purple and black.
