Baltimore Ravens defense: Projecting 3 standouts against the Bills
Which Baltimore Ravens defenders are ready for more playoff football?
3. Matt Judon
Matt Judon has been turning it up for the Baltimore Ravens lately. Between the middle of November until the end of December, Judon had four out of five games with a sack. Against the Tennessee Titans, his stat line was modest yet he played well. There is a big difference between the first half of the season Judon and the second half of the season Judon.
The Bills are a pass-first defense and Judon (much like Tyus Bowser) is an all-around outside linebacker. If you told me that Judon would have two sacks in this game I could believe it. I also think this would be a good time for his first career interception, maybe on a play where Josh Allen thinks he’s coming and he drops back into coverage. Interception or not, Judon will likely make an impact in pass defense beyond rushing the quarterback product from Wyoming.
The Ravens need their pass rushers in this game. Judon has to show up for the purple and black it is as simple as that. Allen also holds the ball too long sometimes. If the Ravens can make Allen try to extend plays, it could hurt the Bills. It could give the Baltimore pass rushers the tools they need to be successful.
Judon has been winning his one on one battles more and more. He only registered six sacks this season. That being said, he only had two sacks in the first seven games of the season. Like I already mentioned, the second half of the story has been a different story for him.
The pressures have started to lead to more quarterback hits, more sacks. Put Judon down for a couple of sacks and a couple of high-impact plays. It could be covering Devin Singletary out of the backfield, tipping or intercepting a pass or, even an important open-field tackle. I get the feeling Judon shines in the Divisional round.
