Safeties: Chuck Clark, DeShon Elliott, Anthony Averett, D.J. Swearinger

Clark and Elliott both took pretty large steps forward in 2020 with the exit of Earl Thomas and solidified themselves as one of the better safety duos in football in the process. Both will likely have starting jobs in Baltimore for years to come, so the depth behind them (while still important) isn’t as dire as the need in other positions.

Averett played serviceably well in every role the Ravens asked him to assume this past season. We’re coming up on a contract year for him, so he’ll surely be looking to shine bright and turn heads all around the league in hopes of securing the bag (in Baltimore or otherwise).

D.J. Swearinger is a player who’s been linked to Baltimore for years, as the team even tried to claim him off waivers in 2015 but were unsuccessful. Having played out his contract in New Orleans, Swearinger will likely be looking for another 1-2 year deal to contribute on a contending team. His price hit would be almost nothing, and he would add a stabilizing veteran presence to this budding safety group (along with a willingness to smack opponents in the mouth).
