2. What Bowser could become:

Signing a multi-year deal with a player is partly a game of projection. Bowser is a player that could end up a lot like a player the Ravens just lost. Matt Judon was supposed to be the main pass rusher of the Ravens, yet he never had a 10 sack season in Baltimore. Is it unrealistic that Bowser could become a player like Judon? An all-around linebacker who can flirt with double-digit sacks is something Bowser can aspire to be.

Bowser had five sacks in 2019. He only had two sacks this past season however, a six or seven sack year doesn’t sound out of the question. Judon’s best season was 54 tackles and 9.5 sacks. If Judon sets the bar for Bowser to aspire to it’s a reachable level to reach.

Here’s what the Ravens have at the outside linebacker positions. They have Bowser, Pernell McPhee, and Jaylon Ferguson. McPhee serves a very specific question and it’s hard to know what to think about Ferguson at the moment. Bowser has become the big man on campus. Unless the Ravens upgrade at the position, Bowser is the leader of the group.

The Ravens have a very versatile player in Bowser. He’s never going to be able to lift the Ravens pass rush all up by himself. He is though, a very good piece to the puzzle. He went under the radar in free agency. He could have gone elsewhere but the money wouldn’t have been much different at any destination.

Staying with the Ravens is a good move for Bowser. If he is going to take a step up it’s going to be in Don Martindale’s defense, the defense that built him up over the past four seasons. This is what is best for both sides. Bowser has a chance to have a long run in the Charm City.
