Odafe Oweh: 45 tackles, four sacks

The Baltimore Ravens will get a good rookie season from Odafe Oweh. This is a player whose athleticism is going to get him in the backfield. The big question is how many times will Oweh take down the quarterback? It probably won’t meet the expectations fans have for a first-round pick. The good news is that Eric DeCosta knew that when he drafted Oweh.

If Oweh pans out, he’ll be a double-digit sack artist by his second or third season. The Ravens just need to see signs that they made the right decision with the 31st overall pick. Oweh played well in his final season with the Penn State Nittany Lions. The one thing you keep hearing though is that he didn’t have a sack in the 2020 season.

Oweh could come off as a young Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney dealt with injuries in his rookie year, so we’ll use his second season as his real first year. In 2015, Clowney had 40 tackles and four and a half sacks. He looked the part and he had eight quarterback hits.

The Ravens will want Oweh to have a more illustrious career than Clowney. Clowney has been hurt a lot and has never had a 10 sack season. With the 31st overall pick, the Ravens would much rather find their next Terrell Suggs. Oweh isn’t ready to have a Suggs like rookie season, so that can’t be the player we use as the base for this prediction.

Oweh will get plenty of opportunities. Oweh will be on the field a lot and he will develop as the season goes along. The Ravens need a strong first step. He has to rush the quarterback and he has to finish enough to make it worth it. Oweh can do that.
