1. The Ravens have the deepest CB room in the NFL
There is no team with a deeper cornerback room than the Ravens. This is something we already knew going into minicamp, and that notion was solidified on Tuesday.
Not only did the team return Marcus Peters, who didn’t attend OTAs, and Tavon Young, who’s been sidelined for close to nine months, but they also saw a number of players lower on the depth chart perform well.
Perhaps you could chalk it up to inconsistent quarterback play, but the Ravens’ secondary feasted on Tuesday.
The likes of Peters, Brandon Stephens, Anthony Averett, Khalil Dorsey, and Chris Westry all came away with interceptions in what was an eventful day for the defense.
Averett and Dorsey were the two most notable standouts with each of them recording a handful of pass breakups on top of their interceptions.
The Ravens will have a fierce battle at the cornerback position this offseason and realistically have more depth than they know what to do with.
Humphrey and Peters are arguably the best cornerback duo in the NFL. Now healthy, Young is a rock-solid option in the slot. And Jimmy Smith and Anthony Averett are both starting-caliber players who will be asked to play depth roles.
Not to mention fifth-round pick Shaun Wade who will likely make the team as an extra nickel cornerback and the aforementioned Stephens who should see time at safety as well.
The Ravens have the deepest cornerback depth chart in the NFL. And Tuesday’s practice confirmed that.
