A few Baltimore Ravens hot takes

  • Newcomer Josh Oliver looks like a solid red zone target, as the tight end caught several passes in the end zone. At this point it would be surprising if he doesn’t serve as the Ravens’ third tight end in week one.
  • Free agent acquisition Justin Houston didn’t take long to make a big impact on the field. Except for the occasions where he was double-teamed, he was constantly in the backfield.
  • Tyus Bowser was fooled badly on a quarterback keeper by Tyler Huntley.
  • Wide Receiver Siaosi Mariner looked solid on special teams and made a pair of spectacular long catches during one-on-one drills. He just signed with the team earlier today after an offseason tryout, so his early impact was a pleasant surprise.
  • J.K. Dobbins acceleration once he gets the ball in his hand is a big reason he led the league in yards per carry in 2021.
  • Marcus Peters was beat by both Devin Duvernay and James Proche during crossing routes.

Baltimore Ravens practice highlight

What first appeared to be a wide receiver sweep turned into a trick play. The initial receiver lateraled the ball to Proche, who then tossed a 15 yard pass to Lamar Jackson for a touchdown. The crowd went crazy and, I’m sure, expects similar fireworks during what should be an exciting 2021 season.
