The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with a multitude of injuries so far this summer. And on Tuesday, they received a scare when All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey exited early with an apparent injury.

Humphrey went down when covering wide receiver Jaylon Moore in a non-contact drill and stayed down for a few seconds before limping off the field.

Head coach John Harbaugh didn’t have any updates on Humphrey’s status following practice and it was unclear how serious the injury was.

Fortunately, ESPN’s Jamison Hensley is reporting that the injury is nothing more than a mild strain and that he likely won’t be sidelined for very long.

The Ravens dodged a bullet with Marlon Humphrey’s injury

The Ravens have battled the injury bug all summer with a whopping 15 players sitting out of Tuesday’s practice. That included cornerback Jimmy Smith who has missed the last week or so with an ankle injury.

Baltimore has some of the best cornerback depth in football, but that depth has been tested with Smith out. Not to mention Khalil Dorsey and Iman Marshall — two roster bubble players — landing on the injured reserve.

Of course, none of those players live up to Humphrey, however.

The 25-year-old has developed into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, was voted first-team All-Pro in 2019, and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons.

He’s one of the most valuable players on the roster and losing him for any period of time would have been disastrous. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear as though that will be the case.

The Ravens injury news was mostly positive on Tuesday

The Ravens did get a little healthier on Tuesday as center Bradley Bozeman returned to practice after sitting out on Monday. The hope is that rookie left guard Ben Cleveland could return from his concussion soon as well.

Coupled with the recent returns of Ronnie Stanley and Kevin Zeitler, the Ravens might have their full offensive line healthy and practicing by the end of the week.

Given all the injuries the team has endured this summer, that’s certainly a welcome change of pace.
