Of the three undrafted rookies on this list, the only one with a legitimately good chance of making the 53-man roster is safety Ar’Darius Washington.

Viewed by most as an early-Day 3 (or earlier) prospect, it was very surprising to see Washington go undrafted. That made it that much sweeter when the Ravens were able to scoop him up as a free agent shortly following the draft.

Immediately, many fans identified him as an undrafted rookie who could make some noise this summer. And despite a slow start, Washington is beginning to prove them right.

The TCU product forced a fumble in Saturday’s preseason opener and made a number of excellent plays in coverage. He coupled that with a strong week of practices that saw him emerge as one of the stars of training camp.

Washington may be small in stature at just 5-foot-8, but he’s a versatile player who is rangy and isn’t afraid to lay the hist stick — as evidenced on Saturday.

He does face some stiff competition however with veterans Anthony Levine and Jordan Richards competing alongside young safety Geno Stone for roster spots.

Stone was another player who shined on Saturday and he could be the biggest obstacle standing in Washington’s way.

Still, it’s clear that the coaching staff is excited about him and he should be given every chance to earn a roster spot over the next two weeks.
