3. The Ravens could trade Jake Verity to the New Orleans Saints

Wil Lutz worked out so well, so why not roll the dice with the Ravens another time?

Following news of Lutz’s surgery, the Saints hosted a free agent kicker workout a week ago and signed veteran Aldrick Rosas.

Rosas made the best impression of the bunch, but given his competition (the other two options were rookies), he could be seen as the de facto “safe” pick who has a pro record of doing….just average.

Rosas earned Pro Bowl honors in 2018 with the New York Giants when he posted a 97 percent field goal completion rate, only missing one 50-plus yard kick that season.

Two years later, Rosas is definitely not the same player he was before. He played for the Jaguars in 2020 and posted a much more lackluster 72.7 percent field goal completion rate, though he did make all of his extra-point opportunities.

Rosas may be the solution to the Saints’ kicker problems for now, but the key words here are “for now.” As rival teams make their final cuts this week, the Saints will still have their eye on the kicker market.

Just as Lutz once was Tucker’s understudy, Verity, too, learned from the best and offers more promise and value than Rosas currently does.

Whether the Saints would be willing to give up a draft pick is a different story, but if New Orleans wants a last-minute upgrade at kicker, Verity is their best bet.
