5 players who led the Ravens to a thrilling victory in Week 2
By Justin Fried
5. Marquise Brown, WR, Ravens
Marquise Brown didn’t even expect to play on Sunday, per his own admission. The Ravens wideout was held out of practice most of the week with an ankle injury before returning on Friday.
Brown was listed as questionable for the game and was very much a game-time decision. Yet, despite not being at 100 percent, he was easily the Ravens’ most effective target in the passing game in Week 2.
The former Oklahoma star finished with six catches for 113 yards and a touchdown pacing all Ravens receivers and once again coming through in the clutch.
His day could have been even better if Jackson had found him streaking down the middle of the field early in the first quarter. Brown burnt past the entire Chiefs defense only to be overthrown on what would have been a 73-yard touchdown.
Nonetheless, Brown did his part on Sunday to ensure a Ravens victory.
Hollywood has a knack for showing up in big moments and that was no more evident than his performance this week.
The Ravens will hope to see their speedy wide receiver build upon this huge game and continue toward what could be a career year.
It was a slow day for Sammy Watkins against his former team. Mark Andrews really didn’t get going until the second half.
The Ravens needed Brown to deliver. And deliver he did.
