2. Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens
Lamar Jackson did just about everything he could do to put his team on his back on Sunday. His final stat line won’t show it, but Jackson had a phenomenal day.
Jackson finished 16-of-31 for 287 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the air while adding 58 yards on seven carries on the ground.
And those numbers would have been much higher had his receivers, namely Marquise Brown, not let him down.
You can theoretically tack on at least another 100 cumulative yards and 2-3 touchdowns if Brown doesn’t drop any passes on Sunday. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
Jackson was one of the few components of the Ravens ground game that actually got going too, although his 58 yards were undoubtedly inflated by a 31-yard scramble.
The former MVP was on target most of the day with his lone major mistake coming in the fourth quarter when he forced a pass into triple coverage only for it to be intercepted.
Apart from that play, Jackson played a mostly mistake-free game and put his team in a position to win. And if he got any help from his receivers or offensive line, this one wouldn’t have been close.
The Ravens narrowly avoided an upset loss to the lowly Lions. But that loss most certainly would not have been on Lamar Jackson.
