Ravens: 3 running backs Baltimore could trade for at the deadline
By Justin Fried
1. Ravens RB target: Mark Ingram (Houston Texans)
This is the one that Ravens fans will be most excited about. Many have been clamoring for the Ravens to bring back Mark Ingram ever since the likes of Dobbins, Edwards, and Hill went down with injuries nearly two months ago.
It hasn’t happened yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
Ingram signed a one-year, $3 million contract to join the Houston Texans in the offseason. He was part of an oddly veteran-heavy free-agent class for the Texans that included the likes of Phillip Lindsay and Rex Burkhead as well.
Right now, Ingram has been getting the majority of the snaps with David Johnson, Lindsay, and Burkhead all factoring in as well.
But the Texans aren’t looking to compete in 2021, and with Ingram on the final year of his deal, it could make sense to ship him away in an attempt to get something for him. Especially when they have plenty of experienced depth behind him.
The Ravens would be a perfect trade partner.
Ingram obviously has experience with the organization having spent the previous two years in Baltimore. And his relatively inexpensive contract means that the Ravens could be able to afford him, especially if Houston retains a little bit of his salary.
The Ravens love bringing back former players to serve as veteran leaders in the locker room. Mark Ingram fits the bill and could provide a much-needed boost to the team’s running back depth chart.
