The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award is usually given to the best player in football. There are a few things that go into selecting who wins the award such as the number of wins the team has and the numbers the individual has.

Lamar Jackson should be in the MVP discussion every single season because he is that good and that important to his team.

Since Jackson came into the league and stepped on the field for the Baltimore Ravens, all he has done is win.

No quarterback in the history of the league has won more games by the age of 25 than Jackson. Quarterback wins shouldn’t be a stat, but it is something that is considered with regards to the MVP.

Jackson has better numbers at this stage of the season than he did in 2019 when he was the unanimous MVP. This season, however, according to many he isn’t the leading candidate for this year’s award.

Hence the LeBron James comparison.

Every single year LeBron has been the best and most valuable player in the league, but they give the award to others. Understandably so, you want to keep things interesting.

Do the numbers support Lamar Jackson?

Well, based on the numbers, Jackson should be the unanimous MVP once again. Jackson leads the entire NFL in yards per carry (6.1). He is also top-five in yards per pass attempt (8.7), top-10 in passing yards (1,686), and he’s on pace for 4,700 passing and 1,100 yards rushing this season.

Jackson has a higher completion percentage (67.5 percent) than Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers, 60 fewer passing yards than Kyler Murray, and a higher QBR (62.7) than Dak Prescott.

Even before we take into account his ridiculous ability as a runner, Jackson is right up there with his contemporaries in the passing game too.

The only questions that people had about Jackson were regarding his ability to pass the ball consistently. He has most certainly answered those.

The Ravens are 5-1, although they have the highest number of players on IR (16), have been arguably the best and most consistent team in the NFL.

This is simply because they have No. 8 at quarterback. The Ravens will have a chance every game because of this, and that is why he is the MVP this year, and probably every year.
