The Baltimore Ravens have made a couple of amendments to their final injury report which was released on Friday, the latest of which is that wide receiver Marquise Brown has been downgraded to OUT.
Brown did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday as the speedy wideout battled an ankle injury. He did, however, return on Friday and practice in a limited capacity.
Brown was one of 10 players (11 if you include the late addition of Lamar Jackson) that were listed as questionable for this Sunday’s game. However, now the Ravens will be forced to play without him.
This will mark the first game that Brown has missed since his rookie season. The 2019 first-round pick had appeared in all nine games to this point in 2021.
The Ravens will scramble to replace Marquise Brown’s production
Brown is on pace for not only a career year but perhaps the best season by any wide receiver in Ravens history. In nine games, Brown has hauled in 52 catches for 719 yards and six touchdowns.
He’s even been making a case to be named to the Pro Bowl which would mark the first time in franchise history that a player has been selected to the Pro Bowl as a wide receiver.
Replicating his production will be no easy task.
The Ravens will lean on the duo of Rashod Bateman and Sammy Watkins to pick up the slack in Brown’s absence. Bateman missed a day of practice this week with an illness but has quickly made a strong first impression since returning from injury.
Watkins, on the other hand, wasn’t as successful in his return with a dreadful game against the Miami Dolphins last week. The Ravens will need a much stronger performance from him in this one.
Expect Baltimore to rely on Devin Duvernay as well as James Proche, especially with Miles Boykin also ruled out due to injury. Duvernay is also questionable with a knee injury and was a limited participant on Friday.
Proche was a healthy scratch last week but has impressed in limited action after a standout summer.
It will be all hands on deck as the Ravens look to replace one of their top offensive talents.
