5 teams that stand in the way of the Ravens Super Bowl hopes

1. The Kansas City Chiefs are a threat to the Ravens
Despite all the early-season talk that the Chiefs had fallen off and that Patrick Mahomes wasn’t the player he used to be, the perennial powerhouse Chiefs sit at 8-4 and look like potential Super Bowl favorites coming out of the AFC.
This is a team that’s proven to be an Achilles heel of sorts for the Ravens in recent years having beaten them in three consecutive seasons before Baltimore prevailed back in Week 2 of this year.
Yet, despite their shared history, these two teams are yet to meet in the playoffs in the Lamar Jackson era. The only time they met in the postseason, the Ravens scored a 30-7 victory in the Wild Card Round of their 12-4 2010 season.
The Chiefs have made it to at least the AFC Championship Game in every year of the Patrick Mahomes era including back-to-back Super Bowl appearances. And despite a rather slow start to 2021, they look well on their way to doing so again.
The Chiefs have now won five straight including wins over the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Denver Broncos. And while most of the attention will be on their star-studded offense, their defense deserves plenty of credit as well.
Over the course of their five-game winning streak, the Chiefs have allowed just 11.2 points per game including three games where they held their opponent to single digits.
For as good as Mahomes and the Chiefs offense is, the defense has looked just as dominant.
No team presents more of an obstacle for the Ravens than the Chiefs do this season. But that’s a sentiment that Ravens fans know all too well.
