2. Ravens trade target: Justin Reid, S, Houston Texans

Brandin Cooks isn’t the only Texans player who could get dealt in the offseason. Safety Justin Reid has also found himself as the subject of trade rumors, although his situation is a little different.

Unlike Cooks, Reid isn’t technically under contact in 2022 with his rookie contract set to expire at the end of the year. If the Texans are going to trade him, they’ll likely need to slap the franchise tag on him first.

Expect that to be something the team heavily considers, especially with Reid’s future in Houston looking murkier by the day.

The former third-round pick was benched in the team’s Week 12 loss to the New York Jets for what was described as “disciplinary reasons” further fueling speculation that his time with the Texans is running thin.

And if the Texans do decide to place the tag on Reid, the Ravens are a team that should come calling.

DeShon Elliott’s future in Baltimore remains up in the air, and while he’s made steady progress on the field, his injury history is a legitimate concern. If the Ravens opt to let Elliott walk, Reid would be a considerable upgrade.

On top of that, he would give the team the true ball-hawking center-field safety they’ve been missing since Earl Thomas’ departure. Elliott’s skill set may be deemed redundant with a more prototypical free safety preferred.

If that’s the case, Justin Reid could be an ideal target for the Ravens this offseason.
