Ravens injury report Week 16: Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley questionable
By Justin Fried
The Baltimore Ravens injury report for Week 16 features 10 total players including each of the team’s top two quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. It’s just been one of those years for the Ravens.
And this week’s injury report doesn’t even come close to capturing the misfortune the Ravens have been forced to deal with this season. It doesn’t include the over a dozen players on the injured reserve and the many more on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Regardless, only one player on the injury report has officially been declared OUT, that being guard Ben Powers. Wide receiver Devin Duvernay and guard/tackle Tyre Phillips are both doubtful and unexpected to play.
The likes of Jackson, Huntley, Calais Campbell, Patrick Mekari, Odafe Oweh, Patrick Ricard, and Brandon Stephens are all questionable. Some have a better chance to play than others.
The Ravens will be shorthanded once again in Week 16
Of course, the biggest talking point here is at quarterback. Jackson missed practice for the second consecutive week dealing with his ankle injury and the expectation is that he will be unable to play.
As for Huntley, he was held out of practice on Friday with a non-COVID illness raising fears that he might be forced to miss this Sunday’s game. However, the expectation is that he does, in fact, play.
The hope is that Campbell and Mekari could both play after they practiced on Friday. Oweh and Stephens are also dealing with non-COVID illnesses but are expected to play. Given the lack of depth at both of their positions, they almost have to.
The biggest concern, aside from quarterback, comes with Ricard who did not practice on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday dealing with a knee injury.
The Ravens don’t have a backup fullback under contract meaning that players like Nick Boyle or Eric Tomlinson might be forced to pick up the slack in his absence.
The Ravens will limp their way into Cincinnati on Sunday in what might as well be a must-win game. They’ll need a complete team effort to come away with the victory.
