The Baltimore Ravens have been without Lamar Jackson for the last two weeks with the star quarterback nursing an ankle injury. And going into Week 17, he’s once again been listed as questionable on the final injury report.

Jackson injured his ankle during the team’s Week 14 loss to the Cleveland Browns and was replaced by Tyler Huntley.

The hope was that Jackson would be able to return in short order, but despite being listed as questionable in each of the last two weeks, he hasn’t been able to play since that game.

There was some initial optimism when Jackson returned to the practice field on Wednesday for the first time in over two weeks. Jackson practiced in a limited capacity, albeit with a noticeable limp.

Unfortunately, that optimism quickly faded away when he was held out of practice on both Thursday and Friday. But that hasn’t stopped the team from listing him as questionable regardless.

The Ravens insist Lamar Jackson has a chance to play on Sunday

Head coach John Harbaugh spoke to the media on Friday and insisted that Jackson “has a chance to play” despite missing what has essentially been three weeks of practice.

But with the Ravens’ postseason hopes potentially on the line, they need all the help they can get. Having Jackson back on the field, if healthy, would undoubtedly provide a major boost to the offense.

If Jackson is forced to miss another game, Huntley would be in line to start. The former Utah standout missed this past Sunday’s game after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list forcing veteran Josh Johnson to start.

The Ravens are dealing with a multitude of injuries aside from the quarterback position too. Cornerback Anthony Averett has been ruled OUT with a ribs/chest injury meaning that the Ravens will be without their top three cornerbacks against Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and the Los Angeles Rams.

They also likely won’t have rookie outside linebacker Odafe Oweh who is listed as doubtful with a foot injury.

The Ravens are desperate for some semblance of positive injury news. But although the team insists Lamar Jackson has a chance to play on Sunday, the safe bet is to assume he doesn’t.
